Our Story

Progressive Pet Hospital was built on the idea that veterinary care should feel personal and collaborative. Our journey reflects a commitment to caring for pets while supporting the people who love them.

Progressive Pet Hospital began with a dog named Allie.

Allie was a Westie/Shih Tzu who came into Dr. Barnes’ life when she was 19 years old. At the time, she could never have imagined how much that small dog would shape the path of her life.

Allie wasn’t just a pet—she was a constant companion through some of life’s most important chapters. She was there through college, through the long years of veterinary school, and through the early stages of Dr. Barnes’ career as a veterinarian. For more than sixteen years, Allie remained a steady presence, growing alongside her through both the exciting and difficult moments that life brings.

Living with Allie showed Dr. Barnes something that every pet owner understands deeply: the bond between people and their pets is extraordinary. Pets are with us through our milestones, our challenges, and our everyday routines. They become part of our families and our stories in ways that are impossible to fully explain, but also impossible to ignore.

That bond is what inspired Dr. Barnes to pursue veterinary medicine nearly twenty years ago. It’s also the reason Progressive Pet Hospital exists today.

After more than a decade practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Barnes felt called to create a hospital that reflects the values that first drew her to the profession—care that is compassionate, thoughtful, and built on genuine relationships with families and their pets. As a privately owned hospital, Progressive Pet Hospital was created to allow decisions to be guided by what is best for patients, clients, and the team caring for them.

Every pet that walks through the doors of Progressive Pet Hospital matters deeply to the people caring for them, because we understand that behind every patient is a family who loves them.

Allie lived a long and beautiful life, reaching 16½ years old. The lessons she taught about loyalty, companionship, and the quiet ways animals shape our lives continue to guide the heart of this hospital.

Progressive Pet Hospital exists because of that bond—and because every pet deserves care that honors it.
